AMD is looking to release GPUOpen, an open source competitor to Nvidia's Gameworks. Gameworks gives a library of assets to developers, making their job easier, but only works best with Nvidia cards. Developers may use AMD's solution because both the PS4 and the Xbox One use AMD graphics, and it will have a minimal effect on Nvidia cards because it is open source.
